Courses

Temporary suspension of training

We are taking a break from running our own courses for the next few months. We hope to start running them again in due course.

As an alternative, we would recommend Learning Tree, a training company that offers high quality courses both online and face to face and covers the same subject area, plus many others.

Public courses

We teach official Microsoft courses with a focus on analytics. We are based in Europe and present courses in English usually on the UK (UTC) or Central European (CET) time zones.

All of our courses are taught online, which works well for the technical syllabus that we teach and avoids travel costs and unnecessary CO2 emissions.

Attendees connect through a virtual meeting room, usually Zoom, where we can see each other and talk to each other. When the course gets underway the instructor shares his or her screen and explains the course content using slides and demonstrations.

On almost all courses we also connect to a Virtual Machine (VM) where we can do practical exercises. In most cases software licenses are not needed by the attendees because trial licenses are installed on the VMs.

Private courses for organisations

If several people from your organisation wish to attend the same course, we can arrange a special session at a time that suits you, subject to availability. This should be less expensive for you if you have at least five delegates who wish to attend together.

Please contact us to discuss your needs.

Guide to Microsoft's Power BI courses

See this blog post for an explanation of Microsoft’s full offering of courses on Power BI and who each is intended for. This covers the five courses we offer (excluding the revision day) plus some others but does not include the super-advanced DP-500 course. Click on the image below to go to the blog page.

The courses we offer

Currently we are running six courses, all on Power BI, as follows.

  1. Power BI Dashboard In A Day (DIAD): a one-day course intended for beginners. Read more…
  2. Power BI Data Analyst (PL300): a three-day course that takes beginners rapidly to intermediate to advanced level as Power BI report developers. Read more…
  3. PL-300 Revision Day (PL300REV): a single day for revision and preparation for the PL-300 Microsoft Certified exam. Read more…
  4. Advanced Modelling and Shaping in Power BI (MSIAD): a one-day course on creating a well-structured data model. For more experienced Power BI users who want to get the fundamentals of data modelling right. Read more…
  5. DAX In A Day (DAXIAD): a one-day course on the DAX language that is used to build formulas, intended for more experienced Power BI users. Read more…
  6. Advanced Visualization with Power BI (AVIAD): a one-day course intended for more experienced Power BI users. Read more…

DIAD is perfect for attendees who need to understand how to use Power BI reports as an end user. For those wishing to develop their own reports, PL300 is a better choice.

PL300 is often taken by people who wish to pass the PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst Microsoft Certified exam. It is suitable for beginners or those with a little experience of using Power BI.

PL300REV is usually scheduled on the day after a PL-300 course to allow those preparing for the exam to do some supervised cramming. You may enrol for this course even if you have not taken the PL-300 course with us.

The three courses MSIAD, DAXIAD and AVIAD are designed to run consecutively as a 3-day course for more advanced users but can be taken separately if you wish. To register for two or three of them please just sign up to them separately.

Discount codes can be entered at checkout, as can multiple attendee names if you are booking several places on the same course.
